Youth Photography Education Program
HansPhotoX Photography Arts Center was founded by Xuehan Xu, an EB1-A recipient, acclaimed photographic artist, and university photography professor. The HansPhotoX Youth Photography Education Program is dedicated to serving Chinese-American youth in the Dallas area, with the mission of cultivating a new generation of visually literate and creatively empowered young image-makers in a multicultural context.
The HansPhotoX educational system is built upon three core pillars, offering a structured, progressive curriculum that balances creative inspiration with professional development. Courses integrate art appreciation and technical training, emphasizing creative expression and visual storytelling. The program covers mobile and digital photography, lighting techniques, image editing, project development, and portfolio guidance.
1. Photography Interest Training Program (Beginner | Intermediate | Advanced)
This tiered photography program is designed for Chinese-American youth ages 12–18, offering a structured path from foundational skills to advanced creative practice. The curriculum includes photography theory, history, image analysis, technical training, and themed projects. Through a combination of classroom instruction and home-based creative assignments, students are encouraged to observe life, express emotions, and develop a visual language through the lens.
2. Portfolio Coaching for School Applications (Middle to High School | High School to College)
Tailored guidance is offered to students preparing photography portfolios for school applications—ideal for those applying to private high schools, comprehensive universities, or art-focused programs. Coaching includes theme development, photography execution, visual storytelling, editing, layout, and professional presentation. The goal is to help students showcase their individuality and creative thinking, enhancing their competitiveness in the academic admissions process.
3. Summer Photography Camp (Intensive Experience | Creative Exploration)
HansPhotoX offers a special summer photography camp each year, aimed at middle and high school students interested in visual expression. Through short-term, intensive, project-based learning and engaging photo assignments, students will transition from simply “seeing” to actively “creating,” and from “documenting” to “storytelling.” The camp helps build students’ aesthetic judgment, narrative skills, and artistic sensitivity, while opening the door to the world of photographic art.
